Nail I'm Loving

I was loving this nail so much that I had to pick up another of Essie's polishes from the Neons collection. This time I purchased DJ Play That Song, which is a vibrant grape shade.

Essie's DJ Play That Song

I'm really loving this colour. I first applied it to my toes, and I think that more often than not, I will use this for my toes. Even so, sometimes it's nice to paint your fingernails with an extra-bright shade like this one, especially in the summer months.

I've been really impressed with my recent Essie purchases. Like I said in my post about Bottle Service, I really like the formula. In the past, I had problems with clumpiness and bubbling. Not with these so far. The formula is quite thin, without being watery or streaky, which allows a nice even application. I need two - three coats, as well as a top coat, but I'm happy with the results. Without a topcoat, this polish does lack shine. It doesn't dry matte exactly, but just a bit more dull than I would prefer.

Have you tried any of the Neons collection?

Nail I'm Loving

So I just picked up this new nail polish from the Essie 2013 Neons collection impulsively. I had not yet heard of this colour or seen it anywhere, but I don't have anything quite as vibrant in my collection, so I had to have it. The colour is called Bottle Service, and it is an extremely bright, deep pink with a bit of reddish undertones. It is so flattering on, and I cannot stop staring at my hands! I love it!

Besides the amazing colour, what makes this polish so great is the ease of application. Often I have a difficult time with Essie polishes. Some apply beautifully for me, but more often than not, they bubble upon drying. Bottle Service was basically opaque in one coat, and after two coats looked perfect, with no bubbling. I try to do thin coats, but sometimes it is difficult - even on the nails where I used a bit too much polish, I did not see any bubbling. I did apply a top coat of Seche Vite which definitely made the finish a bit more shiny than it otherwise would have been.

If you are looking for a new bright shade for summer, I would highly recommend picking up Essie's Bottle Service.

Nail I'm Loving - YSL Jade Imperial

This is my first YSL nail polish ever. I don't normally buy a lot of high end nail polishes unless I feel like the colour is quite unique, as I'm generally quite satisfied with my Zoya's and OPI's. But... I'm so glad I picked this up! I was really impressed with the formula of this YSL polish. After one coat, the colour was opaque. I did apply two coats, but one could definitely be sufficient. I did apply one coat of Seche Vite Dry Fast top coat because I'm very impatient in waiting for my nails to dry.

I applied this polish on a Saturday, and as I am writing this, it is already Wednesday and there is absolutely no chipping. So that is quite impressive in it's own. I love it when I change my polish not because of chipping, but simply because I am ready for a new colour.

So the application was great, and wear-time is great, but I haven't even mentioned the colour. Jade Imperial is such a pretty green! It is a muted, dusty green that is quite sophisticated. Green is one of the colours that I have next to none of in my collection (see it here!). Actually, if you do not include mint (which isn't really a true green, in my opinion), I have no greens. So this is a welcome addition. I just love this colour and often catch myself glancing down at my nails throughout the day.

I'm pretty sure this was a special release for the spring, but if it is still available at your YSL counter, I would highly recommend it!

Nail I'm Loving - Ciate Sugar Plum

For the longest time I thought I just needed more practice painting my nails to get that perfectly professional manicured look. Well actually, I just needed to discover the brand Ciate! Seriously, I am so impressed with the formulation of this polish. I often struggle with cream finishes, so I tend to stick to frosty or more metallics because I find them a lot more forgiving. But for the spring, there is nothing prettier than a gorgeous creamy pastel nail. Finally I have found a way to achieve this look without the smudges and air bubbles that I had always struggled with. I cannot say how much I love these polishes, and you will probably be seeing a lot of them in future Nail I'm Loving posts.

Ciate Paint Pot in Sugar Plum

After about a week of wearing this colour (seriously, this stuff lasted a long time), there was a small amount of wear on the tips, so I layered a bit of Essie Luxeffects in Set in Stones in a bit of a twist on a french manicured look. I thought it turned out quite cute!

What are your secrets to a great manicure?

Nail I'm Loving

This polish is from OPI's James Bond Skyfall collection. It is called Casino Royale. This a gorgeous deep berry creme polish. This is after two coats, with Seche Vite Dry Fast top coat. I have such a hard time with the application of creme polishes, but the payoff is great - this colour looks so pretty. I love it!

Nail I'm Loving

Today's nail I'm loving is Chicago Champagne Toast by OPI. I believe this is quite an old shade, but I recently picked it up on a flash sale on Beyond the Rack.

This is a champagne toned rosy mauve colour that is just beautiful and extremely opaque. The picture is showing up a bit more peachy than it actually appears in real life. I would say it leans towards mauve, rather than peach. This is two coats, but I could have gotten away with a single coat. I applied the second coat as I had some visible brush strokes. I also topped with Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat.

I love this nail because it is a very wearable neutral everyday colour, but still has a metallic shine. It is also quite flattering on my skin tone. I have a hard time with nudes, so I find this is a good substitute when I don't want to wear a bright.

What nail are you loving these days?
